Unfortunately, there are a few studies about fertility herbs for women and men. Therefore, there is also no adequate evidence to confirm the effectiveness of herbs in treating infertility or fertility problems.
Facts and Types of fertility herbs
We can find a lot of herbs when it comes to boost the fertility, but it’s not easy to find one that actually works effectively to solve your problem. The following are some facts of these herbs or supplements:

Coenzyme Q10
There are also a few studies found that another option to improve the motility or number of sperm may be coenzyme Q10. But this is also still not the final answer – further research is required!
Folic acid
Folic acid is one of essential nutrients that we can found in prenatal vitamins for women who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant. And a recent study suggested that folic acid may also help improve counts of sperm (similar to coenzyme Q10).
Vitamin E
A study found that vitamin E may improve the rate of fertilization in men who have low counts of sperm. But other studies also found that the use selenium or vitamin C supplement with vitamin E supplement doesn’t help enough! Again and again -- more research is needed for clearly answer!
L-carnitine
One study shows that the use of L-carnitine and acetyl-L-carnitine increased the motility of sperm among study participants.
How to choose fertility herbs for women and men?
Some people have opinion that using natural supplements (like fertility herbs) is more affordable and safer than conventional treatments. But be careful, to keep safe -- it’s much better to choose one that:
- Has the approved standard from FDA (Food & Drug Administration (US)).
- Don’t have a potential risk interaction with a certain medication that you are taking! Therefore, it is much better to talk first with your doctor before taking any fertility herb.
Before considering fertility herbs, why you don’t consider some factors that can affect your fertility! Sometimes changes in lifestyle are effective to help get the success goal of your fertility treatment. Below are some factors or conditions that can affect the fertility either in women and men:
Weight
Many studies found that the level of your healthy weight has a link with your chance to be more fertile. Being overweight or underweight can affect certain hormones in the body which then can put you at higher chance of having fertility problems.
Underwear
The choice of underwear also can affect the level of your body to be fertile. The wrong choice of underwear can cause poor circulation, more heat, or other unfriendly conditions for the genital area either for men or women.
In men, long hours of bicycle ridding may also affect the fertility, because this can lead to more heat in the scrotum which then may affect the counts and quality of sperm.
Wrong vaginal lubricants
There are some types of vaginal lubricant that can kill sperm which then will decrease the infertility. Some studies found that many vaginal lubricants have unfriendly compounds that can affect the viability and movement of sperm.
Smoking
Bad habit such as the use of tobacco or cigarette smoking is also not good for the health. The exact reason of why cigarette smoking can cause fertility problem is still not known. In women, cigarette smoking may have a contribution to lead to the higher risk of ovulation disorders. And in men, this bad habit may also affect to the counts and quality of sperm.
